      I recently discovered this bad boy, crafted out of the top bar and the title text, floating around our affiliates' pages:


It's a good 88x31 button, but now affiliates have two was to link here, if you'll glance on down to the bottom left of your browser window. There are two models, the lovely "Sans-Sasquatch" model existing, and the new "Monkey-Button" design. If you have an affiliates section on your site, and you would like to join in the fun, check out this section, and give me (Jofers) a pm.

I also remind our existing affiliates that they need to link to a special URL so we can count their in hits. That is all.

That is not all: By violent threat, Genso's Junkyard is now our affiliate. Go there, unless you are using Firefox, because it will break the fastest of computers. If by some dreaded accident, you are using Firefox, Click the red 'stop loading' button over and over again, and the bug may refrain from eating your soul.

      Genso's Junkyard
Rel of Genso's Junkyard has updated with three cool demos based upon these tutorials by a crazy man. Now you can explore the body's most rippling intestines accompanied by Martin Short inside a marvelous miniature spacecraft.

Experimental Gameplay
Oftentimes around various crevasses of the so-called "'net", you will here complaints that videogames today are cookie-cutter shooters and platformers that fail to bring anything new to a metaphorical table. So before you make that RPG, check out Experimental Gameplay, a project set up by CMU students, attempting to pump out an original game each week. "Some good, some crappy, all experimental" is their motto, so check it out for an original experience.

Downloads:
Detective Academy (QBasic Strategy and RPG Games): Reports of Lachie Dazdarian's death are greatly exaggerated. Detective Academy is a memory game testing your face recognition skills as you reassemble the mugs of disreputable criminals up to no good: It's Mr. Potatoe head gone bad.

Pixel Gem Snake Hunt (Action Games): Nibbles the snake is slitherin' back in VGA graphics, and he just can't get enough of those gems, I tell you what. A suspicious-looking PetroBot (apparently belonging to me) has claimed resposibility for the recent downloads.

Particle Demos (FreeBASIC graphics): DJ Peters promises a 98% hippie rentention rate complementing these colorful, hypnotizing particle demos.

Passwort Generator (QBasic Miscellaneous): Do you suck at coming up with random passwords? Perhaps you would like a German alternative? This little handy utility from one "Manuel" just might be the answer for you, so why not downloaden, herr?

Warrior (QBasic Strategy and RPG Games): Manuel delivers again, with a text game likened to "Dark Woods", a text puzzle in which you play a roudy Miami detective delivering justice to the scum of the beachside in style.

      There is talk around Town Wildcard about QB45 being given some legendary award in the next issue of the venerable QB Express. Is QB45 the best site on the internet? No. But it's definately second best, and it's time to get your vote on and pretend we're better than we are! If you can do this before July 15th, friends, we have a shot at winning a ginormous victory banner. Do you have what it takes? Are you a bad enough dude to vote for QB45? I guess we're gonna find out.

On this note, QB Express's next issue will mark one year in production! Cool!

      If you don't already know what this post is about, turn on the news.

QB45 is not a religious site, nor is it political or humanitarian. We're a programming site, about writing computer code that is generally unrelated to the happenings around the world. Despite this, our condolences goes out to the London citizens who have lost loved ones in the recent terrorist attacks. It never ceases to both amaze and disgust me, the coolness and calculation in which some people deliberately hurt total strangers: Men and women who are targeted in blind hatred for the fact that they can be. A lot of people were hurt today, so keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Several visitors of this site are London residents, and it would be helpful if they posted a comment here and let us know they're okay.

      QBasic.com didn't shut down, it simply changed servers. Now it can only be accessed via http://www.qbasic.com, note the compulsary "www." preceding qbasic. All squatters may now throw down their stetson, stomp on it, and if they wish, accompany this action with their curse word of choice.

For this week's downloads, we have some tasty new QB goodies, a FreeBASIC library and qb45's first tutorial of 2005 for download. Let's kick it off:

Downloads:
The "New" FreeBASIC 8-Bit Palette Machine (FreeBASIC Libraries): The piously eccentric Adigun Pollack gives us a massive library for handling color palettes of all shapes and colors, for use with FreeBASIC's graphics routines.

Sudoku Solver (QBasic Miscellaneous): Ever play Sudoku? It's that game where you fill in numbers so there's only a single instance of 1-9 in all rows, columns and 3x3 grids. Ever feel like ripping that newspaper apart and throwing it out the window? Don't! Cheat! Here is a "Sudoku Solver" from David "SavagePumpkin" Hall, that lets you fill in a game grid and it solves it!

Nightlife Demo (QBasic Graphics Demos): SBM Production's very impressive 3d polygonal walkaround demo, complete with BSP trees and other fancy names of the foregone era of "Quake 1".

Tutorials:
FreeBASIC and Allegro (Graphics): A great reference and tutorial for using Allegro with FreeBASIC, as its wryly obvious title suggests. Though it's still being written, it is a must-have for every FreeBASIC programmer interested in the Allegro game library.
