This week in downloads
Posted by Jofers on Tuesday June 7th, 2005 @ 18:54:14
For our first update, we have four new downloads submitted for your pleasure:
  • jpeg4FB pre release - Antoni Gual's excellent JPEG routines have been ported to FreeBasic on top of Lillo's LibGFX library. Also contains a nice viewer as a proof-of-concept.
  • Smaze - A nibbles-like ASCII game, in both English and French, for the ladies.
  • TCRay - Another FreeBasic port by Antoni, this is of Jark's beautiful ray tracer, TCRay. Jark's homepage, along with some great info on raytracing can be found here.
  • Tetris 2 Ascii - A neat twist of Tetris, incorporating elements of color-pairing games such as Columns, or the underappreciated Super-Stack series.

Well, that's it for this week. If we get enough downloads next week, you'll see 'em posted here. But remember, only you, the reader, has the power to make it happen...

I do intend to add a "newest downloads/tutorials" thingy this weekend by the way.

Yup. Do you think we'd need a new module for code snippets? You know, like we don't really need a separate download for an RGB macro, right?

Well, it could be just submitted as a .BAS file. I could also make it so .BAS files have the option to be displayed in the browser with syntax highlighting as well... Actually, I don't really know. Maybe a separate "Code Snippets" section would be more useful. Hrmm.

Whoa, I didn't know there was an Ultimate Super Stack. Oops, just spent 2 hours playing it. Geez, this is even harder than the first.

Yeah, If I didn't have Wetspot or Super-stack, I probably would have gotten into a better college.

Fling: I might make the module myself. Code snippets should probably be displayed as a 5-6 line preview and a full source, all syntax-highlighted (I suppose we can use Geshi for that.).

Sounds good to me.

Superstack underappreciated? :(

I was the one who wrote the game.. I remember several years ago posting it on this site, and getting good comments about it...

Anyway, I created a new game that I released recently, though I made it with VB and not QB45,

You can download it from my site www.potato-factory.com if you wish;
The game's name is Silence of the Chicks.

Enjoy!
