Welcome to X-GUI! A world where a GUI can be fun and powerful.
What is X-GUI you ask? Well we shall show you what it can do and
just what it is =)

With X-GUI you will be able to do some common tasks that we
love to do with computers, including the standard user..
 Games,Work,Home use, ect...
And of course the power user..

Software programming, Games, WORK, System Management, ect...
If you are a basic user who needs an easy to use and powerful
desktop environment for a rather old computer (or new) then
X-GUI *is* the way to go! Sure, there are tons of other GUI's
in this world, but how many are as fun and EASY TO USE as X-GUI?
The one thing KG Software has always done from the beginning is
listen to our users and do our best to please them with our work.
With X-GUI you will have the best of all worlds, a fast desktop
environment, a built in scripting programming language that's easy
to use, some powerful ready to use applications, and more!

Where to get started? New user? No problem, we have you covered..
First you will need to read through most of this file, or at least
the parts that seem most useful to you. Then we would love it if
you would fill out the basic information in a email below and
send it to our address...

 Some quick tips/tricks...
First you may notice that X-GUI can handle many different fonts! If you
would like to change the system font then all you have to do is
erase the old SYSTEM.FON and make a copy of another font and just name
it SYSTEM.FON and through it into the fonts directory. Reboot X-GUI and
voila! You now have a new system font. If X-GUI finds no font named
SYSTEM.FON then it will use it's built in font. In fact X-GUI needs
no external fonts to even run! If everything goes to plan, there will
be a utility called SYSFON.XSF that will be included with this distri-
bution. This utility will allow EASY, GRAPHICAL changing of the X-GUI
fonts.
Icons can be any size as long as there not so big that the interface
can't handle them, but I have tested icons as big as 100x100!!
I will warn you that if icons are so big that the array in X-GUI
can't hold them then you could lock up your computer and need a
reboot :\. If all goes to plan, a utility called ICOEDIT.XSF will
be included with this distribution.
You may also notice that X-GUI can handle PCX images and still look
good for using the QBasic/VESA standard palette. This is because
the images were converted from some other source to the standard
palette. If you use Paint Shop Pro 3+ you can morph a palette using
error diffusion. Doing this you can convert a image with millions
of colors using MS-Windows palette into a X-GUI 256 color image
that looks almost like the original.

Whats to come in future version 3.?? versions...
This is the first release of version 3.0.0 of X-GUI. Lots of things
may change from now until for example, version 3.2.0 or whatever.
Always make sure to get the latest version so that you have
less bugs and better performance. This version may seem lack of
some things and it probably is, but in the future those "things"
will be added to make it better. One thing about this version
is there are no CLI's :( I am thinking about programming a CLI
into a XLANG application. There are lots of things that need to
be done to make a CLI like version 1 & 2 had, and since this
version uses SVGA (VESA) and some other functions there is no
way to do these things that the CLI needs to be included.
Maybe in a future version I will have this figured out and
have something like a CLI again.
In future versions we will have everything from WAV players
to web page browsers, or at least this is what I imagine and
so far what I have imagined has come true! As long as all goes to
plan, some extra Apps and tutorials will come with this distribution.
Please excuse the quick editing of this doc, DOSGUI patched it up
after he got the demo of X-GUI 3.0.

 X-GUI is *NOT* an OS!
The one thing I hope to put a stop to in this life time is to
stop people from calling these things OS's! X-GUI is a GUI, hell
read the name! =) 100% GUI, no OS here!!!
Too many software programmers call these things OS's and why?
Why do this when you know people are not even going to use your
software because of the label. X-GUI may not be the most popular
GUI in the world but at least we call it what it is and not
something it is not!
Maybe it's just me, but I spend a lot of time working on a real
OS I am programming (MicroOS) and it is very hard work compared
to ANY QBasic programming I have ever done, including X-GUI.
It makes people like myself mad when people call these things OS's
because we spend so much time making them and then you people go
out and make a fake shell and say "He we have a OS here!" But
what you really have is a shell to MS-DOS, the real OS being
behind it.

 Common Real Q&A:
Q: Is X-GUI a OS, because if it is how can it be made in QBasic?
A: X-GUI is not a OS, and it is NOT possible to make a OS in QB.
Q: What language was X-GUI made in? And for all the versions.
A: All of the versions were made in QB 7.1, Version 3 was made in
    VBDOS 1.0.
Q: Will you help me make a OS (or) Will you help me make a GUI..
A: I have a lot of work to do on both my own OS and GUI (X-GUI)
so the answer will always be no until I get both of them done,
and that probably will never be =)
Q: Did you use your own graphics library for X-GUI or someone elses?
A: In both version 1 & 2 I used my own libs, but in version 3.0 I used
parts of ZEPHYR's library. I don't currently know of any *REAL*
copyrighs or anything so I will not worry about them and there lib
    quite yet.
Q: Will there ever be a X-GUI version 3?
A: Now you all should know =!
